An open & affordable Wi-Fi connection blurs the lines between luxury and necessity. This session explores important continuing roles for Wi-Fi and shared access (both community and commercial) as both complements and substitutes for mobile internet among resource-constrained communities in the Global South. Building on findings from a draft report on internet access and use, in preparation for late-2015, brainstorming groups will identify priorities for re-imagining community access in ICTD theory and practice. Additional session details here.
